Description

The Simulation Education Coordinator works closely with faculty and staff in health programs and community healthcare organizations to develop and implement effective clinical simulation at the Eau Claire and River Falls campuses. This position includes development and organization of simulation with emerging technologies. Additionally, the Simulation Education Coordinator participates in development, planning, and execution of simulation and operation of simulation equipment. This position reports to the Dean of Nursing.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and assist faculty in the development of clinical simulations and health program curricula. This includes the use of low, medium, and high-fidelity simulators, virtual reality simulation equipment, standardized patients, electronic health records, and video-recording systems for review and debriefing.
  • Create and implement training and orientation for faculty new to simulation including pre-briefing, simulation, and debriefing.
  • Participate in development, planning, and execution of simulation and operation of simulation equipment.
  • Maintain expertise in existing and emerging clinical simulation and healthcare technologies and healthcare industry best practices, and disseminate this knowledge to faculty, students, and staff.
  • Lead the Simulation Center Committee.
  • Collaborate with committee members on development and implementation of simulation experiences that align with curriculum and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and update policies and procedures related to simulations, operations of the simulators, and simulation center.
  • Lead and maintain accreditation of simulation labs in Eau Claire and River Falls. This includes gathering and assessment of data and ensuring that accreditation standards are met with current supporting documents.
  • Develop student instructional materials in collaboration with faculty and simulation technicians.
  • Provide work direction to simulation technicians.
  • Work closely with the simulation technicians on ordering supplies, programing simulations, and scheduling.
  • Facilitate collaboration amongst health faculty and WTCS health programs to optimize technology use.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary education opportunities within simulation.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of and skills with technology including software programs for communication, data collection, and decision making including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel. 


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a healthcare field, master’s preferred.
  • Three years of occupational experience in healthcare or healthcare education within the last five years.
  • Two years of occupational experience in utilizing clinical simulation.
  • Two years’ experience teaching in a healthcare program preferred.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator® (CHSE®) from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare; or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
