Healthcare Records Manager

$6,922 - $8,412/Monthly*

Starting salary up to $48.37/hour ($100,953/year), a cash allowance of $600/month, and a competitive total compensation package!* 

Reporting to the Healthcare Privacy and Security Officer, this position will oversee and participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive and coordinated records management program across all divisions of the Department of Health Services (DHS). The incumbent will act as a consultant and resource for the department regarding record maintenance; and assist in developing policies, procedures, and desk manuals to organize, manage, and protect client information and other personally identifiable information of DHS clients in paper and electronic form. This position supervises Medical Records staff and will serve as a resource to DHS management and staff regarding health information management laws, regulations, and standards. Additionally, the position will serve as custodian of records for the Department of Health Services.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in the above areas of healthcare records management and will possess:

  • Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) by the Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
  • Familiarity with laws and regulations regarding health records management including record retention/destruction laws, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and State privacy laws
  • Prior experience with Electronic Health Records Management
  • Experience writing policy, procedure, and desk manuals
  • Prior supervisory and/or management experience
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills with the demonstrated ability to lead and influence effectively across multiple divisions
